NATGEO “The Great Energy Challenge” (03/.05.2014)
One of the world's largest nonprofit educational and scientific organizations National Geographic Society, held the third international event of "The Great Energy Challenge" initiative in the Ciragan Palace in Istanbul. The first event of the initiative supported by Shell washeld in Washington , and the second was in London .
25 senior executives from business, public sector, universities and civil society organizations joined the roundtable meeting that was moderated by Kadir Has University Energy Systems and Engineering Department Chair and Strategy Development and Research Coordinator Prof. Dr. Volkan Ş. Ediger. The subject "Powering Our Urban Future: Opportunities and Challenges in Turkey" was examined in detail at the meeting. the problems Turkey's cities facing, increasing energy demand, energy efficiency in buildings, effective and efficient public transport and infrastructure transforma tion were discussed . Present and future solutions for urban growth to be sustainable in Turkey and the world were focused on.
